Technology & Work

How robotics and AI at the workplace are regulated and how new technological developments impact work relationships and work culture, employee protection and participation, social partnerships and employment law.

What we work on

Technology has a major impact on the way we work. The European Union has responded to these developments with new Directives, such as the Platform Directive, and has regulated the workplace and HR via the EU AI Act. In Switzerland, new technology at the workplace is regulated by technology-neutral regulation. The question is how we can make sure that work relationships work well, that the introduction of new technologies in companies are successful, while at the same time securing employee protection and participation and have a functional social partnership.
We examine these developments at the workplace and consider the design, implementation and impact of these policies. How does the introduction of a new technology impact the employer-employee relationship? Does employment law need to adapt, and if so, how? What new regulation do we need?

Policy Impact

The need for new regulation going along with major changes in today’s workplaces, the necessary changes in practice and regulation to accompany these transformations.
